Smiles of Gold

Inside of me where no one dares look, there ticks a heart of gold.
A rainbow of colours to send forth on the world, until my body gets old.
You see gold is a sense, not a colour or solid, that moves people in different ways.
Is happiness measured from the jewelery we wear, or the joy from all of our days?
Twinkle and shine will describe it so well, however it can be subdued.
Its a shame to think something so beautiful, can be the cause of so many feuds.

What if wealth was measured in smiles, and gold was nothing but stone.
Would the smiles of strangers lift you up, like the gold you currently own?
Look into your heart where the happiness lies, and answer what makes you feel rich.
Is it gold on your fingers that you like the most, or smiles that provide someone a lift?
No one can know what you feel inside, until you share your wealth around.
For riches are nothing if made of gold, when smiles are free and can always be found.

  1. This poem makes me smile for some strange reason :) It's a lovely idea, and the imagery is kind of glowing. I can feel the warm smile enveloping me.
